Ruth Anna Davis [Shiban], KHS 1934

Ruth A. (Davis) Shiban, 84, widow of Benjamin J. Shiban, formerly of East Coventry and Coatesville, died Sept. 19, 2000, at Grand View Hospital, West Rockhill Township, after a year-long illness. She was diagnosed with lung cancer earlier in the day.

Born April 27, 1916, in Chadds Ford, she was a daughter of the late Clarence P. and Irene D. (Janny) Davis.

She lived in Franconia Township since 1965 and shared her home with her son for the past six years.

Mrs. Shiban was a 1934 graduate of Kennett Square High School.

Mrs. Shiban and her late husband owned and operated Shiban’s Auto Upholstery, Lansdale. She was the office manager for 28 years until her health forced her retirement in 1988.

Mr. and Mrs. Shiban were married for 56 years, until his death in 1993.

She was an avid bird watcher and enjoyed gardening. She was of the Catholic faith.

Surviving are a son, B. John Shiban, Franconia; two daughters, Sharon Louise, wife of Donald Amole, West Chester; Nancy Jean Shiban, Pottstown; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, David Amole; a brother, Howard Davis, and a sister, Evelyn Saylor.

Funeral services and burial were private.
